Komodo wins the German Design Awards 2020 for the Gardening and Outdoor Living category

The 2020 edition of the German Design Awards, an important international event at the forefront of the search for successful trends in the world of design, has acknowledged Komodo, a modular seating system, featuring a fibreglass resin structure and cushions.

Designed by Raffaello Galiotto, inspired by the spontaneous interweaving of the branches of trees and characterised by exceptionally flexibility in terms of composition, Komodo conquered the jury and took first place in the “Excellent Product Design – Gardening and Outdoor Living” category.

The official award ceremony is scheduled to take place on 7 February 2020 in Frankfurt.

Inspired by tree branches, Komodo 5 is a modular system of upholstered seats in fibreglass resin for outdoor use, offering great composition flexibility. It can be configured as desired depending on space, taste and needs.

The well-known international award for excellence and innovation in design organised by the Chicago Athenaeum, the Good Design Award 2018 has awarded the relaxing Net Relaxfiberglass resin armchair (design: Raffaello Galiotto) in the Furniture category.

Modular outdoor sofa for free compositions to suit any space

Komodo is a modular resin frame on which padded cushions and backs can be attached on all sides, easily and intuitively. This system makes it possible to design potentially endless sequences of stylish and relaxing armchairs.

The ramification of the weaving pattern on the frame derives from careful geometrical design, which also involves the innovative system for attaching the seat and back, which simply swivel in place. This solution avoids unsightly mechanisms and visible slots while retaining the smooth harmonious styling of the woven design on the seat and back.

Particular attention has also been paid to the packaging and to volume containment, making it possible to reposition this easy-to-disassemble sitting room in more compact settings.

Komodo is available in 3 colours (bianco, antracite, tortora) with various upholstery types and colours. It is available for purchase in the standard 5-seater version (Komodo 5) or in the most diverse customisable versions: anyone can order a different composition (starting with a simple armchair) to accommodate all spaces, tastes and requirements.

ADI Design Index 2017

The outstanding levels of quality and excellence pursued by our brand were recently highlighted by a major recognition awarded by the ADI (Industrial Design Association).

The permanent Observatory of Design ADI has in fact chosen NET Relax , design Raffaello Galiotto, for publication in the ADI Design Index 2017. The latter constitutes the second volume of the biennial cycle that groups together the most significant Italian products pre-picked to compete for the ultra-prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI 2018 Award.

Set up in 1954 based on an idea by Giò Ponti, the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award is the oldest but most of all the most influential world design award, in acknowledgement of the conceptual and production quality of Italian design products. The accolade, which covers all the awarded products, has generated the largest Historic Design Collection which was declared “National heritage” in 2004.

Tradition meets contemporary taste at the Relais Villa Aieni in San Vito dei Normanni, in Apulia; the project which was completed in early June 2016 involved the full refurbishment of a village of period trulli to give rise to a luxury tourist resort boasting every modern convenience.

Surrounded by 17,000 m2 of grounds including a garden and fruit and olive groves, several furnishing solutions by Nardi play the starring role in the outdoor setting of each trullo house. The Atlantico sunbed in fiberglass resin and breathable fabric, with its sleek and sophisticated shape, provides the perfect frame for the large swimming pool; the spacious Alloro table for open-air lunches and dinners is matched with relaxing Aria armchairs with cushions. The more private corners set aside are distinguished by the Spritz coffee table set with round table top and stylish chairs from the Net collection.

The top-quality fiberglass resin, the batch-dying process and the air-moulding processing ensure that this furniture is extremely resistant to all temperatures, both in terms of form-stability as well as colour-fastness, with colours that do not fade over time, remaining bright and shiny. A dreamy location, a breath taking view, an evocative and surrounding atmosphere: we’re talking of La Thuile, a small town in Valle D’Aosta where there’s the prestigious Hotel Nira Montana. Nardi’s design is protagonist on the terraces of this elegant residence at the foot of Mont Blanc with the contemporary and original lines of ARIA set.

“In popular belief – states the architect Simone Del Portico who was in charge of the hotel’s interior design together with his team – one identifies a mountain residence with atmospheres where, by tradition, the strong presence of natural materials distinguishes all settings, in both the furnishings and in the finishes. It was therefore necessary not to disappoint such expectations, by creating a system capable of generating the same charming suggestions thanks to a modern lightness of silhouettes and texture combinations”.

That’s why different materials alternate with various lines and colors for a result of absolute balance – a perfect mix able to create a unique style.

Inspiring matches also for the terrace furniture, where the choice was ARIA set by Nardi. Original and classy in anthracite shades, the generous fiber-glass resin outdoor armchair with fabric cushions and a slatted frame is paired off with the supporting coffee table, which is also slatted.
